Greene County Museum
Our mission is to preserve and present the history of Greene County through the collection and preservation of historical artifacts, storing and displaying of court records and maintaining a genealogical research room. Increasing information pertaining to family cemeteries and compiling information and data regarding Veterans of Greene County are ongoing projects. One of our tasks has been to sponsor Archaeological digs in the County along with many other activities.

Our Present Endeavor
The Greene County Museum and Historical Society is currently highlighting special exhibits featuring little known people who have contributed greatly to the rich heritage of our historical county.
Recently we have embarked on a venture of publishing photo books to sell replacing the annual calendar. The first publication 2023 is entitled Transportation in Greene County circa 1900-1920.
As members of the Mississippi Museum Association https://msmuseums.org/ we are endeavoring to make improvements, network with other museums and inform the community with published monthly articles.
As an working volunteer organization, we are actively recruiting volunteers. Currently hours of operation for the museum are Monday 9-2 and Thursday 9-2. Our goal is to increase hours and days open to the public.

You may bring historical information and/or artifacts pertaining to Greene County to the Museum in person. Upon approval, items will be stored and/or displayed within the Museum.
